AUSTRALIA BOASTS THE LONGEST GOLF COURSE IN THE WORLD

Did you know?

Nullarbor Links is an 18-hole Par 72 course which spans 1,365 kilometres! There is one hole in each participating town or roadhouse along the Eyre Highway, from Kalgoorlie in WA to Ceduna in SA. The course can be played in either direction and it generally takes 4 days to play the 18-hole course.

This isn’t cart golf it is car golf. Some holes are over 80 kms apart!

Bronze Shield Team Week 2:

Helen Egan, Chris Levy, Suzette Cassie, Barb Clayton and Jane Clifford.

PENNANTS

Congratulations to our Bronze Shield Team who defeated Goulburn 4/1 at Moss Vale on Friday 14th March.

On Friday the 21st Bowral hosted the Pennants matches.

Meeghan did a great job of organising the teams and as usual the women members were very supportive bringing in a wonderful selection of goodies for morning tea. A big thank you to everyone for your generosity.

The Bowral team had a bye but were there helping Meeghan with many of the tasks. It was a very cheerful atmosphere and we received many compliments on the organisation and of course the wonderful morning tea! Well done by all!

Nice to see so many women playing at Bowral

The greens would have been a challenge!

Congratulations to all our Medal winners!

It has been great to see the increase in the number of women playing golf on Saturday. Last week we had 11 players and this week there were 14 of us out there.

You never know we might soon have enough of us out there to have a Pro pin or a NTP!!

I know some players were disappointed that last Saturday the women were excluded from the 4BBB but I am sure that we can initiate more medleys and mixed competitions in the coming months.

A big thank you to Kon for organising a BBQ lunch offering as well as sandwiches and wraps on Saturday. If this becomes the new norm for Saturdays many of us will be very happy! Also a thank you to Sally, Natasha and Ollie who all did a great job as usual. Ollie is fast becoming the King of the BBQ!

Change of date for the President’s Cup Round 1

Due to the Bronze Shield Pennants schedule the Match Committee have made the decision to push back Round 1 of the President’s Cup. Originally we were to play Round 1 on the 27th March (next Thursday) but we have now rescheduled it for the 3rd April. The Pennants team has only just got enough players for the game on March 27th and as such Chris Levy will be playing Pennants. I hope you agree we cannot have the President’s Cup played without our President! Our apologies for the late notice.

COWRA TRIP - Tuesday 6th June to Friday 13th June.

Tournament Entry Forms will be available in April, and we will keep all interested players updated..

There is a sign up sheet in the locker room to register your interest and intent to come to Cowra with us. Last year we had a great time and I am sure this year will only be better. Ellen Neale needs the numbers so she can ensure we have enough rooms booked and also carts booked if required.

JUBILEE FOURSOMES KNOCKOUT

Reminder that round 1 must be played by the 27th April.

CHALLENGE BOWL KNOCKOUT

The ballot is now up in the locker room. Round 1 must be played by 3rd May.

A note to all.

I hope everyone is aware of the upcoming AGM on the 8th April.

Nominations for Board positions close @ 5pm Monday 24th March (tomorrow). We as a group need good representation on the board so please consider nominating for a position.

EASTER RAFFLE

The Womens Committee has put together an amazing Easter Raffle valued at over $170, which is on display on the bar. Tickets are now on sale 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. They can be purchased at the bar.

This is not your usual Easter selection of chocolate eggs for the kids. This is a deluxe version of an Easter basket for adults ! Spoil yourself and buy some tickets.

The proceeds from all our raffles go to supporting the women members at BGC.

The course is looking wonderful and as we head into Autumn we can expect some great golfing weather. Lets all get out and enjoy the course as much as we can!

Play well!

I’ll take a 2 shot penalty but I’ll be damned if I’m going to play it as it lies.
